Ruling leads to threats for SPCA official
The director of the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said anonymous callers have left death threats on his telephone voice mail threatening to harm him if he euthanizes a vicious Rottweiler quarantined at the animal shelter.

Two months after a group of self-described computer and canine geeks in San Francisco launched a social networking site for dogs, thousands of furry ones have their own Web page, complete with mug shots, personal stories and listings of likes and pet peeves.

Last month, In Defense of Animals, a California-based animal rights organization, sent me some materials about its "Guardian Campaign." A polite letter complimented me on my most recent book, then requested that I use the term "guardian" rather than "owner" in future writings about dogs.

Crufts - Groomed to Perfection
More than 24,000 canines and their owners were starting to converge on the National Exhibition Centre today for the 114th Crufts dog show.
Entrants for this year?9s show will compete in disciplines ranging from obedience, fly-ball and the contest will culminate on Sunday with the dog judged Best-in-Show.
